Privacy notice

This notice explains what SumHub (sumhub.app) collects, why, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do. If anything is unclear, email hello@sumhub.app.

The short version

• You can use every calculator and build a whole financial plan without an account. The numbers you type are worked out in your browser.
• Your financial plan stays in your own browser on your device until you choose to save it to a free account (for example to download it as a PDF).
• We collect technical information such as IP address, device and browser details, and site interactions to keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
• We don't sell your data, show ads or use advertising cookies.

What we collect

• Account details, only if you create an account. You sign in with your Google account; Google shares your email address with us. We keep that email address, that you signed in with Google, and your currency preference. We don't store your name or photo, even though Google offers them, and we never see a password.
• Financial plans and saved calculations, only when you save them to your account: the numbers you entered, the results, a name for each plan and when you saved it. For family members a plan holds only an optional nickname and an age or birth year, never full names or dates of birth.
• Technical information: for each page or request, the time, IP address, browser and device details, language, approximate country, the page address (without any numbers you typed), the referring page and a random session id. We also record site interactions such as page views, which calculator or plan step you used, which buttons you pressed and how long a form took to fill in. These records never include the numbers you type into a calculator or plan; the only number they may hold is your plan's score out of 6.

Why we use it

• To run your account and keep the plans you save, so you can come back to them on any device (needed to provide the service you asked for).
• We collect technical information such as IP address, device and browser details, and site interactions to keep the site secure and prevent abuse. This is our legitimate interest in a safe, working site.
• To understand which calculators and plan steps are used so we can improve them, using counts rather than individual records.

Cookies and storage

We only use cookies and storage that the site needs to work, so there is no cookie banner:

• Login cookies that keep you signed in (only if you log in).
• A security session id (a random value, kept for 30 days) that ties requests together to keep the site secure.
• A currency cookie, set only when you choose a currency, so the site remembers it.
• Your plan in progress and your light or dark theme choice, stored only in your own browser so a refresh loses nothing. "Start over" clears the plan from this device.

How long we keep it

• Technical logs: 30 days. After that they are reduced to daily totals that don't identify anyone.
• Account details, saved plans and saved calculations: until you delete them or your account.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to host the site and store data. They process data only on our instructions and only to provide those services. When you sign in, you do so with Google, under Google's own privacy terms; we send no account emails. We don't sell or rent personal data to anyone, and we only disclose it if the law requires us to.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you. You can also:

• change your currency preference and see your email on the account page;
• rename or delete any saved plan on My saved plans;
• delete your account at any time from the account page, which removes your profile and every saved plan immediately.

For anything else, email hello@sumhub.app and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

If we change how we use data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
